New York Power Authority – NYC Hudson River Power Line

Challenge:  NYPA sought support and substantial funding from the New York City Mayor and the City Council for the connection of a 660 MW Hudson Transmission Line connecting from New Jersey into Manhattan.

NYPA, the nation’s largest public electric utility, contracted Empire to assist the utility in educating and gaining public support for key projects.

Solution:  Developed an outreach strategy that solicited and leveraged support from a number of members of the City Council to convince the Mayor’s office to support the project.

Result: The State and City agreed to move forward on the construction and financing of the $850 million cable line that will become a major source of power to New York City.
